The Nilgiris: Taking part in the DMK late Chief Karunanidhi's 96th birthday celebrations and the thanksgiving meet by the Secular Progressive Alliance, A. Raja the newly elected DMK MP of the Nilgiris Constituency extended his heartfelt gratitude to the voters for choosing him as their representative in the Lok Sabha.

At the meeting held in the ATC grounds in Nilgiris, MP A. Raja in his speech thanked the people of Ooty, Coonoor, Gudalur, Bhavanisagar, Mettupalayam and Avinashi.

"I will be ever grateful to the people", said an emotional Raja who avowed to make maximum utilisation of the MP fund towards development of the constituency.

"BJP's miserable failure in Tamil Nadu was not just because of anti-modi wave but it was because of the powerful alliance forged by DMK leader Stalin. The Secular Progressive Alliance ensured the fall of BJP in TN", MP, A. Raja said.

He also added that BJP has been dreaming of winning seats in TN by joining hands with the ruling AIADMK party.

"However, the secular progressive alliance, people's anger and their wise decision shattered their victory dreams in TN. The nation-wide alliances led to their victory. Anyways, soon people will regret for voting for BJP", the four-time MP opined.

He alleged that Tamil Nadu is being governed by the BJP. "People's anguish on implementing anti-people policies will lead to dissolution of the ruling State government. And, DMK will resume to power", he noted.

"All the MPs from the Secular Progressive Alliance will work earnestly to execute their poll promises. I will execute my best for the upliftment of Nilgiris constituency. A MP office has been opened in Mettupalayam to facilitate people meet me and register their grievances", he said.

He also promised to meet people once or twice a month, though he is not the part of the party in power or a State Minister.
